Get ready for Winter DIYs

Get ready for Winter DIYs

It’s starting to happen.  Colder mornings, dark evenings and mornings and more time in doors.

What better time to pull out your essential oils, a few key ingredients and whip up some health promoting products you will use daily!

First: All Purpose Cleaner

I’ll start with this one because anyone can do this and we are spending more time inside.  Research has shown that the inside of the home can be more toxic than outside due to all of the products we use!  It’s so easy, toxin free and you’ll save loads of money in the long term.

In a spray bottle, mix 4 drops on guard, a few drops of your favourite citrus oils and top with water.  I used this spray bottle.  Refill as needed.  You can use this on light switches, phones, keyboards, counters, floors, toilets.  That’s why we call this one our all-purpose cleaner and I’m all for keeping things simple when it comes to cleaning.

Second: Hormone Balancing Roller

What a life saver this has been for many!  With the number of toxins and xenoestrogens in our world, hormones can begin to feel out of whack.  Rolling this ‘gem’ on your belly or your pulse points daily will bring you a feeling of balance you may not have felt in awhile.  Consistency is key!

  • 12 Clary Sage
  • 10 Lavender
  • 5 Geranium
  • 5 Cedarwood
  • 4 Ylang Ylang

Top with Fractionated Coconut Oil.  You can find your rollers on amazon as well.

Third: Sore Throat Spray

They key to any illness is getting to it early, before anything really settles into your system.  One simple way to do this is with this throat spray.

Add to bottle (these are great)

  • 4 drops on guard
  • 2 drops clove
  • 2 drops lemon
  • 2 drops lavender
  • Top with water

Lemon is an anti-oxidant and anti-bacterial.  It has the ability to cleanse.  Lavender helps lubricate the throat while on guard kills any bacteria or virus’s hanging out there.  Clove is ‘numbing’.  Did you know that Dentists used to use this to freeze the mouth/gums before dental work back in the day?  It also had the ability to pull infections out. It’s an incredible anti-oxidant, over 2 Million on the ORAC scale.  Here is an interesting study for those wanting to see the proof.  https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3769004/

Fourth: Skin Nourishing Cream

You will notice a difference in your skin after about a week of using this.   Some will even notice the next day! It’s simply drier in winter and your skin will feel it.  If you aren’t used to using natural products, you may think this is oily.  Trust that it won’t clog your pores!  Your skin is going to soak this plant power in!  Yarrow Pom is a newer combination of oils (yarrow and pomegranate) and can technically be used on its own, but I’ve combined it with some of my other favourites to ensure we are giving the skin all that it needs.  Feel free to use any oils listed below if you don’t have them all.

Ingredients:

  • ½ cup shea butter
  • ½ cup coconut oil
  • 1 teaspoon vitamin E
  • 20 drops of the following essential oils (frankincense, lavender, yarrow pom, geranium, copaiba, manuka)

For serum: Use jojoba or Rosehip oil

Apply this to your face, neck and hands every night for an immediate glow.
