What is a Detox and Why Should I Do One?
In nature, spring is a season of rebirth and rejuvenation. It’s a fresh start on the cycle of life. Our bodies follow the same rhythm as nature and therefore need a time for rebirth and rejuvenation of their own. We spend time spring cleaning our homes, so why wouldn’t we spring clean our bodies, which we live in every day?
‘Detox’ is short for detoxification, which simply means the removal of toxins from our bodies. The toxins can come from many sources such as processed/preserved foods, air pollution in our environment, and chemical exposure from cleaning products.
A detoxification provides our organs of elimination, liver, kidney, lungs, colon, lymph and skin, with a period of rest. During this period of rest there are no additional toxins entering our bodies. This allows our organs to effectively eliminate the toxins which have accumulated in the body over time. By removing the stress of toxins on our organs, we are giving them a chance to rejuvenate themselves and in turn they will be able to work more efficiently and effectively.
Naturopathic doctors are able to help guide you through a healthy cleanse by using a combination of dietary adjustments and supplements. To get started on your own personal spring detox plan please call our clinic at 289-291-0254 and book an appointment with Dr. Jennifer Kaster ND.
